F3000 race winner Felipe Massa will step into shoes originally earmarked for Marcel Fassler at Mugello next week, after being awarded a Formula One test with Sauber.
Massa, the 20-year old leader of the European F3000 Championship, replaces DTM regular Fassler at the test after Ferrari objected to the Swiss pilot being given the chance to run its engines so close to another test organised by rivals McLaren and Mercedes. Fassler had originally been promised a run in the potent C20 after finally winning his first DTM race, following an agreement he had with team boss Peter Sauber.

Brazilian Massa, who looked likely to run away with the junior F3000 title before a mid-season slip, will drive for Sauber at Mugello between 18-20 September. He has already reportedly eschewed a run with Ferrari in exchange for the chance to try one of NordAuto's race winning Alfa Romeo 156 touring cars.
