Pramac in new sponsorship deal with Octo Telematics
Pramac Racing has announced a new title sponsorship deal with Octo Telematics, one of the world's biggest suppliers of insurance telematics technology.
The team, which includes Yonny Hernandez and Danilo Petrucci, will now be known as the Octo Pramac Racing Team from this weekend's sixth round of the MotoGP World Championship at Mugello in Italy.
Hernandez and Petrucci pulled the wraps off their new-look Ducati in Siena on Wednesday while the deal is likely to mean an end to Octo's title sponsorship of the rival Iodaracing team.
Octo Telematics is a supplier of black box insurance technology and recently launched a product for the motorcycle market called 'Octo Rider 1' to enable bikers to take advantage of telematics based insurance policies, which usually offer cheaper premiums. The sponsorship deal is also a technology partnership, enabling Octo to test ideas with the team.
Paolo Campinoti, CEO of Pramac Racing, said: "We are delighted to celebrate this partnership a few days before the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello, the home race for Pramac and its fans, with hope for a great result that could represent the first in a long series of successes to share with Octo."
Fabio Bianchi, CEO of Octo Telematics, added: "We are highly optimistic about our partnership with Pramac because our companies share common values, ranging from the technological leadership in their respective sectors, to the ability to bring Italian quality to the world, working with passion and expertise to ensure satisfaction to customers.
"Octo Pramac Racing Team offers an ideal platform to enhance the technological know-how of Octo, allowing it to get closer to end-customers by offering innovative products and services.
"Every day, our technology allows us to collect and analyse thousands of pieces of data per second and when I think of our Data Centre, I think this information travels on our secure networks with the same reliability and speed of motorcycles racing on the track."
