WSS: Chaz Davies secures full-time Triumph seat
Chaz Davies will make a full-time switch to the World Supersport Championship in 2010 after his star turn for Triumph towards the end of 2009 was rewarded with a season-long contract.
Davies was hired as Gianluca Nannelli's replacement in the BE1 Racing team for the final three rounds of the WSS season, the Briton going on to create a stir by finishing fourth on his debut aboard the Daytona 675.
Further points followed at the Portimao season finale, enough to convince the Italian-based team to retain the 22-year-old for a full season aboard the improving three-cylinder machine.
He will be joined once again by Garry McCoy, who remains with Triumph for a third season in an attempt to build on a finish of eighth position in the overall standings.
"We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with Giuliano Rovelli and his BE1 Racing team and look forward to a successful 2010 campaign," said Triumph's director of sales and marketing Paul Stroud.
"In Chaz and Garry we arguably have the best two-rider line-up in the championship and with the experience gained by the team over the past two years I believe that the Daytona 675 will be a major force in the world championship."
The Triumph Daytona 675 came on leaps and bounds in 2009, with McCoy finishing on the podium twice at Donington Park and Portimao.
