Alstare to run one Suzuki in 2011
Team Alstare has confirmed it will continue with Suzuki into the 2011 World Superbike Championship, but will reduce its effort to just a single entry.
Coming a day after it was announced that Leon Haslam, who will be confirmed as vice-champion at this weekend's Magny-Cours finale, would be released from his contract, Alstare says its relationship with Suzuki has been extended, albeit in a reduced capacity.
Despite criticising Suzuki for being reluctant in its decision to fully commit for 2011, a brief statement explained that they will now be announcing a choice of rider at this weekend's French event.
"As already stated to the media last weekend in Imola, Team Alstare is happy to officially announce that, despite economic difficulties, they and Suzuki have decided to continue their co-operation and their work together.
"In order to lower costs for both partners, Team Suzuki Alstare will participate in the 2011 Superbike World Championship with one bike.
"At the moment, various considerations are being taken regarding the choice of rider and the final decision will be communicated at Magny- Cours on the evening of Saturday 2nd October."
Suzuki are expected to make a similar announcement this weekend at Motegi in relation to its MotoGP involvement.
