Bimota reveals livery, hints at entry?
Bimota Alstare Racing has dropped a hint that it has secured a formal entry into the 2014 World Superbike Championship by going ahead and revealing the livery of its proposed machine.
The iconic Italian manufacturer is poised to return to the World Superbike Championship in 2014 after forming an alliance with former title winners Team Alstare and announcing its intentions to enter a pair of EVO-specification machines for Ayrton Badovini and Christian Iddon earlier this month.
However, despite confirming riders and sponsors for its campaign, Bimota's hopes of receiving an entry remains dependent on whether the FIM will amend its strict homologation regulations.
Officially speaking, Bimota is currently unable to meet the production units required to secure homologation - and therefore qualify for a WSBK entry -, but the FIM recently confirmed it was reviewing these rules in relation to Bimota, with a decision expected before the end of the month.
Even so, whilst no formal announcement has been made, the fact Bimota is forging ahead with its plans by revealing the livery of its BB3 through social media, complete with prominent backing from Energy T.I. and ParkinGO, suggests it may know better.
Should Bimota be given the green light to race in World Superbikes this season, the bikes are unlikely to make their competitive debut until the start of the European rounds in April.
