Mexican driver joins the field.

Mexican youngster Carlos Mastretta Aguilera is to join the World Touring Car Championship field for the next two rounds of the season at Imola and at Puebla in his home country.

The 21-year-old, who has previously raced in Formula Renault in both Mexico and in Britain, will line-up alongside Tom Coronel as part of the GR Asia team for the two race meetings in place of Valle M?kel?, although the Finn will return to the team in time for the race at Spa.

"Carlos Mastretta's participation has been organised in close cooperation with Jos? and Julian Abed, promoters of the Mexican event," WTCC promoter Marcello Lotti explained. "To have a local driver in the championship will greatly help us in promoting the meeting at Puebla."
