Yamaha's bad luck continues in 125cc class.

It was a day full of appalling luck for the two Yamaha official riders in the French 125 Grand Prix. French local Luigi Seguy crashed in the first corner, breaking his clutch lever and retiring on the same lap. Dutchman Mark De Reuver who experienced problems on Saturday after crashing in his qualification heat bounced back strongly in Sunday's race holding second place until on lap nine his bike suddenly stopped.

The weekend began terribly for De Reuver as he crashed in his qualification heat, forcing him to come through in the 'last-chance' qualification race that only allows the first four finishers to qualify for the race. "I was in third place in my qualification heat when I crashed, I was pushing too hard and wanted to win the race. I bent my handlebars and could not continue. In the last-chance session I was very nervous about not qualifying at all, but fortunately I came through."

In the race De Reuver finally got the chance to show what he is capable of when the gates dropped and soon he was amongst the front-runners. "I got off the gate cleanly, " De Reuver said. "I was sixth, and moved up into third place pretty quickly and once in second place I felt confident enough to go for my first race win. I had no trouble at all and the bike was very fast. I was just setting Ramon up to pass him for the lead and then bike just stopped when I was in the sand section of the track."

We have no conclusion yet on what went wrong, but maybe the ignition has caused the problem. Good thing of today was that I seem fast enough to win races. The track was really rough and to be honest this is not my favorite type of track. I know now I can improve on what has been a terrible start to the season so far. Some people started to doubt my ability, today I proved them wrong."

Luigi Seguy never needed to turn a wheel on Saturday's qualifying as he currently is inside the top ten, nevertheless he showed race winning form when he was out practicing. But the Grand Prix began terribly for Seguy as he crashed with Tallon Vohland, Ben Townley and several other riders on the first corner. Seguy who had looked fast and confident never got a chance to race with the front pack.

"I had such a good feeling about this place," Seguy said. This is the type of track I can win on. My condition is much, much better than the first three GP's and I know I can compete on this track. Because it is in France I wanted a good results very badly. I felt okay all weekend and while my knee gave me some trouble in the morning, being a little stiff, it was OK by the time the race began."

I came into the first corner and that was it. A few of us went down and once I got up I could feel the clutch lever was strange. I came into the pits and we saw that it was broken. I also thought the radiator was leaking, but that was not the case. Well, this is motocross racing and I have to accept that this happens, but it does not make me feel any better right now though!"
