Brookes hopes to maintain record at Snetterton

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes hopes his affinity with Snetterton will be reflected in his results at the fourth round of the MCE British Championship this weekend.

The Australian rider claimed his maiden BSB double at the Norfolk course two years ago and was back on the podium last year after finishing as the runner-up.

"What can I say about Snetterton; that scary tree haunts me at the hairpin! Joking apart I love the track; I did a double win there in 2010 before the layout changed and last year I was on the podium when the circuit had its revamp," said Brookes on the official British Superbike website.

"We always get a good reception from the fans there as they have a really good view from the banks; it is always pretty cool as a rider when someone comes up to you after a session and says 'I saw this happen' and witnessed things from the side of the track rather than a screen."

Brookes sealed his maiden victory of the season at Thruxton on the Tyco Suzuki GSX-R1000 and has also finished on the podium three times as he begins to build up a head of steam in the championship.

"In terms of the championship I knew 'Shakey' [Shane Byrne] would be strong because he started the season in the same way last year, so I always knew he would be a title contender, likewise with Tommy Hill, as he is the current champion and he returned with the same team," said Brookes.

"But if you look at the statistics there have been six different race winners and ten different podium finishers in total so you can't narrow it down and it proves that there isn't anyone favoured to be the winner at Snetterton."
