Stroud based Jentin Racing have signed James Ellison for the coming season, for an all out assault within the hotly contested British Superbike Championship using Jentin prepared 04R1 Yamahas.

Ellison will bring a strong pedigree to this year's Championship having not only won the 2003 World Endurance Championship but also the prestigious European Superstock Championship in both '00 and '01.

Ellison commented that he was really looking forward to tackling this year's Superbike championship on the Pirelli shod Jentin Yamaha.

"After five years of racing abroad I'm really looking forward to racing again in the UK. My objective is simple, to qualify and finish as high up the field as possible and learn to work with a Superbike."

Jentin Racing are now entering their fourth season after running previously and very successfully in the Superstock class. The team led the 2003 Superstock championship for the early part of the year, taking the class lap record at Thruxton along the way, finally finishing in fourth position after rider Matt Llewellyn was forced to carry a performance hampering wrist injury for the latter part of the season.

Jentin Racing team manager Bernard Toleman reported that although the arrival of the 04R1 was relatively late the team is confident of mounting a very competitive campaign and are delighted that Ellison has agreed to join them.

"Our bikes didn't arrive until early February, but we knew that the engine spec' in particular would be reasonably competitive pretty much out of the box. We have all been working extremely hard preparing the bikes for the season opener at Silverstone and have already found a number of avenues for development. We are quietly confident of delivering a bike that will allow James to run with the leading pack."

Jentin Racing once again has backing from one of the south west's largest dealerships, Fraser's of Gloucester, with Cheltenham based Race Techniques looking after all engine build and development work. Further support comes from Southern Counties Carpentry who have been backing Ellison for several years.
