Reid: I'm not going to give up.

Anthony Reid goes into the BTCC finale at Donington Park at the end of the month as the only non Vauxhall driver still in with a chance of taking the championship.

However the MG driver will need an awful lot of luck on his side if he is to claim outright honours for the West Surrey Racing team, as he will need to pick up three race wins and hope that James Thompson and Yvan Muller both have a disastrous weekend.

But that isn't going to stop Reid, twice a runner-up in the championship, from going all out for victory in the last meeting of the year.

"It's still mathematically possible that we could win it," he told Crash.net, "and while that's the case I'm not going to give up. I'm the only person other than the Vauxhalls that can still win the title so it's a long shot but the MG ZS is going very very well at the moment and I'll try to capitalise on that.

"Also James and Yvan are basically at each others throats at the moment so I'll try and capitalise on that too. It's going to be one of the highlights on the British racing calendar so fans should book their tickets early as it's sure to be a sell out crowd - they'll be treated to some exciting racing."

As well as his touring car exploits, Reid has been involved in some Britcar events this season with Fiona Leggate. The duo collected another class victory in the last event at Thruxton, the little MG ZR finishing sixth overall against much more powerful opposition.

"Fiona is getting better and better each time she races," he said. "She put the car on class pole in twelfth overall and then we went and won the class. It was a two hour race, I started it and she finished it and we got sixth overall. It was a great driver by her.

"It's an amazing performance. Andy Rouse won in an ex DTM Mercedes, there is a terrific selection of cars, so for the MG to achieve such a result shows how good the chassis is and it is a feather in the cap for MG to get such a result."
