Opel complete initial 2005 test.

The newly developed Opel Vectra GTS V8 that will be used for the manufacturers final season of DTM competition has completed its first test run at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy.

Works drivers Marcel F?ssler and Manuel Reuter spent three days of testing with the new car, completing around 1,200km on track.

F?ssler was pleased with the performance the car showed during the test, but he admitted that it was too early to think about next season.

"I am quite happy with this test," he said. "The new car gives a good feeling, but it is still much too early to draw any conclusions from that."

Opel motorsport director Volker Strycek was also pleased to have been able to put some mileage on the new car.

"It is a good thing that we have already been able to drive the new car before the end of the year," he said. "At Vallelunga, we had good conditions and we have managed to complete our test programme."

Laurent Aiello and Heinz-Harald Frentzen will also drive for Opel in 2005.
