Former Toyota F1 driver Allan McNish put the problems of the last two DTM races to one side to secure his first points in the championship with a seventh place at Brno.

McNish started the 30-lap race in the Czech Republic from seventh position on the grid and briefly inherited the lead during the compulsory pit-stops for fuel and tyres but, while looking good for a possible podium placing, the Audi driver was given a drive through penalty for exceeding the pit-lane speed limit.

"I'm disappointed," he said afterwards. "A top-three was definitely achievable and to miss out on my first DTM podium due to a pit lane speeding violation is hard to take - I'm still not sure how it happened.

"But, taking all of the positives from the last three days, I was on the pace throughout which bodes well for the remainder of the season."
