2024 F1 Mexico City Grand Prix - As it happened

In terms of the top three, Leclerc is now running 6.3s behind Sainz, while Norris is running third having just set the fastest lap of the race.

He's 4.6s behind Leclerc at the moment.

He's now up to 11th in the McLaren. He will be eyeing up Verstappen in sixth, who continues to struggle for pace.

Sainz, Leclerc, Norris, Russell, Hamilton, Verstappen, Magnussen, Colapinto, Hulkenberg and Bottas is the top 10.

Colapinto and Bottas haven't stopped yet.

"It's getting really dark," Verstappen reports. No rain is expected to hit the track though. 

Piastri finally makes his first pit stop of the afternoon. He rejoins in 13th in the McLaren.

Verstappen is up to seventh now having overtaken Lawson. Sixth looks the best he can achieve today though with Piastri yet to stop.

Replays show some clear front wing damage to Russell's Mercedes. Hamilton is closing in slightly on track now.

He's the quickest of the top three at the moment as he closes in on Leclerc again, with 4.6s between those two drivers.

He moves past Piastri and Lawson in quick succession to move into the top five. Further back, Verstappen is right behind Colapinto.

Sainz, Leclerc, Norris, Russell, Lawson, Piastri, Hamilton, Colapinto, Verstappen and Bottas.

Hard tyres for both drivers as they rejoin in second and fourth respectively. 

Norris comes into the pits and rejoins in fourth on the hard tyre. A tidy stop for the British driver.

Sainz, Leclerc, Norris, Russell, Magnussen, Lawson, Piastri, Colpainto, Hamilton and Bottas.

Verstappen is up to 11th after serving his penalties.

Hamilton is the next driver to stop and he rejoins in 10th, a few positions ahead of Verstappen.

Verstappen actually served both of his penalties as he drops down to 14th on track.

Verstappen comes in for his first stop as he serves one of his penalties. 

Norris is now in DRS range of Verstappen ahead. Surely not another incident.

So Verstappen has two 10-second time penalties to serve this race. He's currently running in third, 1.1s ahead of Norris, and eight seconds ahead of Russell.

Sainz is controlling things from the front, opening a 3.1s lead over Sainz.

Verstappen is third, running 1.4s ahead of Norris.

He's been handed a second 10-second time penalty for running Norris off the track. So that's 20 seconds in total.

Russell gets past Hamilton with an aggressive move into Turn 1. A great scrap between the two Mercedes drivers.
