AlphaTauri decide on Liam Lawson amid Daniel Ricciardo injury status
Liam Lawson will reportedly continue driving for AlphaTauri at this weekend’s F1 Qatar Grand Prix.
Daniel Ricciardo’s ongoing recovery from injury means he will miss another round, ESPN report.
Ricciardo, who returned to F1 full-time mid-way through this season as a replacement for the underperforming Nyck de Vries, broke a hand in a crash at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Red Bull reserve Lawson was thrown into action at sister team AlphaTauri and has impressed ever since.
This will be Lawson’s fifth consecutive race in the seat.
Ricciardo will hope to return later this month in Texas.
AlphaTauri have confirmed that their 2024 driver line-up will consist of Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda.
Lawson, set to be without a full-time F1 drive next year, will have possibly his final chance to impress this weekend in Qatar in a late bid to claim a seat.
