Sainz: Silverstone is my 'favourite track'
Carlos Sainz has set his sights on a strong finish in the British Grand Prix, declaring Silverstone has his 'favourite track'.
Currently classified 15th in the drivers' standings after four points' finishes in the opening eight races, the Spaniard has nonetheless failed to trouble the top ten since Monacp.
Indeed, after tough races in Canada and Austria, Sainz is hoping a return to a familiar venue will help transform his recent fortunes.
"Silverstone is one of the Grands Prix circuits I've most been looking forward to this season. It's always been my favourite track."
Previous experience at the venue for Sainz includes wins in Formula Renault, as well as multiple races in Formula BMW and Formula 3. He has also tried out the circuit in both the Toro Rosso and Red Bull Formula One cars, and so is in a good position heading into this weekend's British GP.
"It should be one of the nicest tracks to drive in a Formula 1 car with its high speed layout. It's also an important Grand Prix for me, as I have a home in London. It's going to be an enjoyable weekend."
