Stewart Denies Financial Problems
A letter has been sent from the FIA asking Stewart Grand Prix if they have the financial backing required to complete the 1998 season. A stunned Jackie Stewart said, (We are surprised at the contents of this letter. As Stewart-Ford, in it's debut season, scored six points and finished in the top ten teams in the constructors' championship, we are puzzled to say the least, that we should have been singled out in this way.) The fact the team have lost their sponsorship from the Malaysian government and the rumours suggesting the Texaco sponsorship is on shaky ground could well be the cause.

However, as Jackie Stewart added, (Our team has available to it financial resources considerably superior to those which it enjoyed for the 1997 season.) He also pointed to the team's new premises as evidence of their continued financial stability.
