Ferrari To Bridgestone Rumour
Unmarked tyres appeared on the Ferraris during a recent private test,
sparking rumours that the Italian team was switching to Bridgestone
rubber.
The stories began when Bridgestone's technical director turned up at
Ferrari's Fiorano facility to oversee Minardi's pre-Monaco test, despite
the Italian team being the smallest of its clients. However, many insiders
believe that Hirohide Hamashima was present simply to prevent Ferrari from
getting their hands on his company's products.

Goodyear, Ferrari's 1998 supplier, joined both the team and Bridgestone in
denying the stories, saying that it was not unusual for the American tyres
to carry no brand identification if they were development parts or destined
only for private tests.
