Panis To Spearhead Arrows?

The first major rumour of the 1999 'silly season' suggests that Olivier Panis may be heading for Arrows next season, and taking Prost designer Loic Bigois with him.


TWR boss Tom Walkinshaw is believed to have spoken with both men at the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend and, despite denying that any deals have been offered, is known to be concentrating on next season as his team struggles through its 1999 campaign.

Relations between Panis and current employer Alain Prost are becoming increasingly strained as the French stalwart finds himself outpaced by less experienced team-mate Jarno Trulli, and it is likely that he will leave the team regardless of an offer from Arrows. Rumours that Panis was to have been replaced by Heinz-Harald Frentzen last season were rendered meaningless by sponsor pressure to retain the Frenchman.
