Frentzen Denies Jaguar 'agreement.'

Jordan driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen has vehemently denied speculation linking him with the Jaguar team in 2001.

The 33 year old spoke out after a German press agency revealed that he had signed a letter of intent to spearhead the marque's sophmore campaign next year, but Heinz-Harald says this is not the case.

He told Autosport "I categorically deny that I have signed any letter of intent with Jaguar or any other team for 2001. I am a Jordan driver 100 per cent."

Frentzen, in the last year of his current deal with Eddie Jordan, dismisses claims that he will automatically move teams when his contract expires, saying that at some point during the season he will have to meet with the Irishman to decide what will happen for 2001.

"Normally that happens in May.....talks of contracts being signed before the season has started makes no sense," added the driver.

Last year Frentzen played a major part in Jordan's most successful season in Formula One to date, winning in Italy and France and finishing third in the title race. If he continues that form this year it is highly unlikely that Jordan will want to release him. However, Jaguar are known to be looking for a top line German driver for their 2001 assault as parent company Ford want to expand their involvment in the German car market. Frentzen aside, the only other realistic possibility for Jaguar would be Ralf Schumacher whose Williams is powered by German arch rival BMW.

If Jaguar want to pursue Frentzen then they would certainly offer him a salary that Jordan would be hard pressed to match. On the other side of the coin, does Frentzen want to leave the friendly atmosphere he revels in at Jordan after his nightmarish experience with Williams?
