Mansell set for F1 comeback.

Reports in Japan this weekend suggest that 1992 world champion Nigel Mansell will make a comeback to the grand prix scene next season....at the wheel of the Orange Arrows two-seater.

Mansell has been out of Formula One since ending a brief association with McLaren at the 1995 Spanish Grand Prix. He tested for Jordan at Barcelona in early 1996 but, since then, has been largely inactive, though he has never officially announced his retirement from the cockpit.

Now it appears that Arrows have enticed the charismatic figure, known affectionately to the tabloid papers that championed him as 'our Nige', to once more sample F1 power by ferrying special guests around the track at a number of grands prix next season.

The two-seater Arrows is similar in concept to the McLaren two-seater which has been used at many grands prix over the last two years with names such as Martin Brundle, Darren Turner and Olivier Panis at the wheel.

Ironically, Mansell's last association with Formula One ended because the cockpit of his McLaren wasn't big enough for him. One presumes that the two seats in the Arrows will provide sufficient space....
