The West McLaren-Mercedes team has revealed that they will start testing their new F1 car - the MP4-18A following the Brazilian Grand Prix and that it might even be ready to run at the San Marino GP at the end April.
According to reports in British newspaper The Sun today, McLaren managing director Martin Whitmarsh has indicated that the MP4-18A, could well run during the weekend of April 20th, providing it is reliable and up to speed in testing.
He told the British tabloid newspaper: "By the time we get back from Brazil next week, we will start running it [the MP4-18A].
"If it is seconds per lap quicker than the MP4-17D and dead reliable, I'm sure we'll find a way to run it at Imola."
Previously it had been thought that the car would not make its debut until the Spanish Grand Prix, on May 4th or even later, the Austrian Grand Prix on May 18th.
Like McLaren, Ferrari have yet to set a date to introduce their 2003 car either, although the F2003-GA has been on track testing since the beginning of February.
All the other teams, including BMW WilliamsF1 are already running with their 2003 models.
