UK Sports Minister, Richard Caborn has waded into the row which led to Ray Bellm, being stripped of his position as chairman of the British Racing Driving Club [BRDC].

According to reports by The Times, Caborn has hailed Bellm a 'visionary', adding that the future of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone could be 'put in doubt without a man of his ability'.

Caborn's statement could prove bad news for Sir Jackie Stewart, president of the BRDC, especially with Bellm now allegedly calling on fellow members of the club, to support his revolt and ditch the former three time world champion.

"Ray Bellm is a visionary," Caborn told the broadsheet.

"The implementation of that vision to create a world-class motor racing industry could be put in doubt without a man of his ability.

"Ray was the main architect of what was probably a deal beyond people's wildest expectations."
