Latifi extends F2 points lead with Baku Sprint Race win

Nicholas Latifi extended his lead at the top of the FIA Formula 2 drivers' championship after winning Sunday's Sprint Race at the Baku City Circuit.

Williams Formula 1 test driver Latifi was able to battle through to the lead in another truncated F2 race in Baku that featured three Safety Car periods, resulting in the race being run to time once again

Latifi managed to take the lead before half-distance after passing early front-runner Sean Gelael, and saw off challenges from Juan Manuel Correa and Nyck de Vries to clinch his second win of the season.

Correa grabbed his first F2 podium in second place, while Saturday Feature Race winner Jack Aitken completed the podium after a late pass on de Vries, who was left to settle for fourth place.

Mick Schumacher charged from 19th on the grid to finish fifth for Prema ahead of Sergio Sette Camara and Dorian Boccolacci, while Sean Gelael took the final point for P8 after edging out Callum Ilott by just 0.005 seconds in a late drag race to the line.
