Dragon team owner Jay Penske arrested
Dragon Racing team owner Jay Penske has been reported as having been arrested overnight over a break-in at the Nantucket Yacht Club in the north-east US state of Massachusetts.
Jay Penske, the son of longtime IndyCar and NASCAR team owner Roger Penske, was said to have been arrested with his older brother Mark, with the local Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror reporting that the pair were arraigned on Thursday morning "on charges of breaking and entering in the night time with intent to commit a misdemeanour."
According to the newspaper, the police report said that the incident was initially reported as an assault and battery claim - later dropped - from two women who claimed that they had encountered the two men in the yacht club's parking lot on South Beach Street.
One of the witnesses said that they had found the two men relieving themselves in the parking lot. When she confronted them, one of them - allegedly Jay Penske - "turned and continued to urinate on her boots. He then proceeded to grab her arm and push her," according to the police report quoted by the newspaper.
The reports added that the two men then ran away, with Mark later found having fallen down a staircase and cut his arm. Police arrived and are said to have arrested them at just before 2am for attempting to illegally gain access to one of the employee apartments at the club.
Neither of the Penske brothers are members at the yacht club, but Roger Penske and his wife Kathy own a waterfront home on Nantucket Island at Pocomo Beach. It's an unwelcome extra headache for Penske Senior, who has just had to fire one of his NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers, AJ Allmendinger, over a failed random drugs test.
After being detained overnight in the Nantucket Police Department's holding facility, the newspaper says that the two brothers were arraigned and released on their own recognizance with the next court hearings set for August 20.
There were no comments from any members of the Penske family over the alleged incident.
