After clipping the machine of Ed Carpenter and then cannoning into the outside wall along the back straight of the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway, Patrick was visibly dazed as she exited her crumpled machine and was taken to the infield medical centre.
After being diagnosed with a concussion by IndyCar Series medical staff, Patrick was transferred to a local hospital for further checks before being released later on Sunday evening.
Patrick will now return to her Phoenix base and prepare for the March 19th trip to Phoenix.
