"We are very excited to bring Scot to Champ Car," Tony Cotman, Champ Car vice president of operations said. "He has a very strong background in motorsports and will bring a wealth of knowledge to Champ Car. We are continuing to grow the series and the addition of Scot is just one more piece that we needed to put into place."
As technical director Elkins will be tasked with overseeing Champ Car's technical program and will spend much of his time integrating with teams, engine, tire, and chassis suppliers to keep the series on the leading edge of technology. He will also be responsible for future development in the series, aerodynamic work and simulations.
"I am looking forward to joining Champ Car," Elkins said. "It is a strong organisation with a very strong base and keeping the series at the forefront in technological development is one of my primary goals."
