Danica confirmed as Rookie of the Year.

Danica Patrick has been confirmed as this year's JPMorgan Chase Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year.

Patrick's nomination as RotY came on Monday's traditional Indianapolis 500 Victory Celebration at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The 23 year-old Illinois native, who finished fourth and became the first woman to ever lead a lap at the 2.5-mile Indianapolis quad-oval, joins 1992 Rookie of the Year Lyn St James as the only female winners of the award.

Patrick, who earned the $25,000 bonus for winning the Rookie of the Year title as part of a total purse of $378,855 became the highest-finishing woman in the race's history, leading three times for 19 laps and as late as lap 193 of the 200-lap race before eventual winner Dan Wheldon passed her on lap 194 to take the lead for good.
