"As (I have decided) to retire from Motocross and go to SuperMoto and Supersport, it is a great opportunity to start the FIM SuperMoto World Championship from now. I believe this Championship will have a great success," explained Bolley. "I will stay with Yamaha, where I am very happy, and will do all the necessary tests and training that is necessary to compete at a high level. Like always I will give my best," added Bolley who has looked strangely out of form at times this season.

The President of Youthstream, Giuseppe Luongo, says, "It is great to see a famous Champion like Frederic enter in the S1. Well known riders like him, Bartolini together with Van Den Bosch, Chambon, Delepine, Seel, Manzo and all the others will help us to raise the image of this sport."

The event scheduled on the 3rd of November in USA has been changed and now will take place at Athens, Greece. The USA Organizer now plans to have the first S1 World Championship round in 2003.
