Solidarity Barcelona MotoGP: Qualifying LIVE UPDATES

Francesco Bagnaia takes pole position in Barcelona. Aleix Espargaro's final lap puts hi second ahead of Marc Marquez. Jorge Martin qualifies fourth, with Franco Morbidelli fifth and Pedro Acosta sixth.

Bagnaia improves on what is his final lap to a 1:38.641. Marquez follows him into second place, and Franco Morbidelli moves up to third. Martin isn't done yet, though.

Martin has blitzed the first sector, but only because he cut the chicane at turns one and two.

Report on the international TV feed that Ducati has changed Bagnaia's rear tyre for this final run.

Riders back out on track now for their second runs. Just over five minutes remaining.

Francesco Bagnaia leads Q2 after the first runs. Only he and Marc Marquez are in the 1:38s, with Jorge Martin 0.241s adrift of Bagnaia in third.

Q2 is underway in Barcelona, and in 15 minutes time we'll know our final pole sitter of 2024.

Q2 around five minutes away. It's a crucial one for both title contenders, but with Bagnaia's deficit you feel a front row here is the absolute minimum for the Italian.

Franco Morbidelli tops Q1 in Barcelona, and heads through to Q2 with Fabio Quartararo.

Joan Mir just misses out in third, and it's disappointment for KTM with Brad Binder in eighth and Jack Miller ninth.

Only Franco Morbidelli and Takaaki Nakagami have taken the chequered flag but no one is improving on what is the third lap of this run.

Jack Miller has crashed out at turn five, but seems to be okay.

Morbidelli's rolled out of it on his final lap, but he has 0.2 on the field. Plenty still pushing on behind though.

Morbidelli improves again on his latest lap, and Joan Mir was briefly second but has been replaced now by Fabio Quartararo.

Five minutes to go and everyone now heading back out on track for run number two.

Jorge Martin's not too interested in Q1, though, he's busy visualising his way around the lap in preparation for Q2.

Morbidelli faster on his second lap, he leads Raul Fernandez by 0.278s after the second lap on a 1:39.367.

Early benchmark has been set by Morbidelli at a 1:39.745. He's the only rider in the 1:39s after the first laps.

We're underway for Q1 as the pit lane opens. 15 minutes to get yourself in those top two positions!

Just a couple of minutes away now from the final Q1 session of the season. Franco Morbidelli surely one of the favourites to get through here on that Desmosedici GP24, as well as Brad Binder on the factory KTM.

It's Maverick Vinales who tops the final FP2 session of the season from Franco Morbidelli and Alex Marquez.

For the title contenders, Jorge Martin ends FP2 in 12th, with Francesco Bagnaia one spot better in 11th.

Marc Marquez had been lingering down at the bottom of the standings in 20th, but popped up to seventh with his latest lap.

Small moment for Martin as he runs on at turn 10 trying to pass Jack Miller. Not a huge deal.
