Aprilia celebrates record GP win
Aprilia is celebrating after become the 'winningest' manufacturer in GP racing after Nicolas Terol notched up its 276th victory in the 125 class at Brno.
The win sees Aprilia surpass MV Agusta with its record win during the Czech round, 25 years after first making its GP debut in the 250 category.
Scoring its first GP win with Loris Reggiani in 1987, Aprilia went on to enter the 125 category in 1988, managing its first win in that class in 1991 with Alex Gramigni. Gramigni went on to win the 125cc title in 1992, while Max Biaggi was Aprilia's first 250cc champion in 1994.
Since then Aprilia has become the reckoned force in the lower prototype classes, winning 133 125cc races, 143 250cc races and a total of 36 world championships - 18 in each class.
Although its brief foray to MotoGP did not represent a successful graduation - the manufacturer withdrawing after two disappointing seasons -, the Noale marque's return to the World Superbike arena in 2009 has put them on course for another world title in 2010 with Biaggi.
