Honda LCR's Stefan Bradl has been diagnosed with a right ankle fracture after falling in final practice for the Malaysian MotoGP.
The German lost the front of his RCV at turn one of the Sepang circuit, with his foot appearing to get caught as he slid off the track.
The 2011 Moto2 champion had been fourth quickest in the earlier session but will now miss the race and have surgery in Barcelona on Monday.
Bradl is currently sixth in the world championship but has suffered the injury at the worst possible time, with three races in three weekends.
