Petrucci: I'll never cut my hair again!
Danilo Petrucci arrived for his pre-Silverstone media preview sporting some nasty scrapes on his arm and leg.
The Pramac Ducati rider, who took his only MotoGP podium in last year's wet British race, explained that he had been knocked down by a car while riding a scooter on his way home from getting his hair cut.
"I [will] never cut my hair again!" Petrucci joked.
"It was 7 o'clock in the evening. I'd finished my training and I asked my father can I try your new scooter. I have only to do 5 kilometres to go to the hairdresser. I want to cut my hair because everybody was saying about my hair. So ok, I go. I was wearing flip-flops and shorts.
"I got my hair cut and on the way back at a roundabout I saw an old man approaching. He had to give way, but he was on the phone and hit me on the back of the scooter.

"When I crash, fortunately I only slide. I stood up and he said 'ah, you are ok so we can go'! I looked over at my father's scooter, destroyed, with the front wheel still spinning and said 'I don't think so'.
"Then he said 'the scooter is new, you [know] how to ride it?' I said 'yes, it's quite new but it's not my first scooter....' Then he said 'maybe you don't understand how the roundabout works in Italy.
"I said 'maybe you don't recognise me, but I'm a rider and a policeman!'
"But the biggest problem was telling my father, because his scooter was only 20 days old. It was a Honda, brand new 'sport' model. My father was proud of it because we had the older model but it was not 'sport'.... The new one is not so sport now!
"In the end my father was more scared about my condition than his scooter - at least I had scratched everything on me, so he didn't look so much at the scooter! Joking apart, it's difficult to sleep well, only on one side. But I only missed two training sessions."
