Brivio: Rossi to stay for 2006 - then F1.

Gauloises Yamaha team director Davide Brivio has declared that he will have no problem retaining the services of world champion Valentino Rossi for the 2006 season - which would be his third with Yamaha - but then expects the Italian Superstar to move to Formula One with Ferrari.

"There are no problems renewing the contract for 2006," Brivio told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "We have decided to discuss it after the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello (on June 5). The contract will be for one year and from 2007 (Rossi) will be in F1."

Meanwhile, Rossi was less precise about his future, confirming that he will stay in MotoGP next year while adding that Formula One with Ferrari - the team it is assumed Rossi would drive for, being Italian and having already successfully tested for them last season - was a possibility.

"For 2006 things will not change, I will stay where I am," he confirmed. "I am happy at Yamaha, it is a great team and it will be easy to reach an agreement (for 2006).

"After 2006 I am free. If I have some offers to race cars then I will consider them," he continued before being questioned specifically about Ferrari: "I have some friends there and I've already driven the car, but there are also other (F1) teams...

"We will see. I began racing karts as a kid and then, luckily, I discovered motorcycles - but I still have a passion for cars. I've done some rallies and I enjoy powerful WRC cars. It's a passion I share with my father Graziano," said the six-times world champion.

Rossi will continue his quest for a fifth consecutive MotoGP title at this weekend's French Grand Prix at Le Mans.
