Passionate about Motocross, Movistar Honda's Marco Melandri - currently second in the MotoGP World Championship - plans to watch this weekend's AMA National at Red Bud, Michigan, before heading to the legendary Laguna Seca circuit for the July 10 US GP.

Melandri rode the best race of his premier-class career last time out at Assen, where he pushed Valentino Rossi all the way to the flag for his best MotoGP result, and can't to take to 'one of the legendary tracks of motorcycle racing'.

"Laguna Seca is a surreal track, weird because there are lots of ups and downs. In reality the track is different than how it looks on television. Everything revolves around the corkscrew, you really need to be brave because it is a blind corner. I can't wait to ride on this track as it is one of the legendary tracks of motorcycle racing," he said.

Melandri has claimed four podiums and three fourth places from the first seven rounds of the 2005 world championship.
