“Hafizh Syahrin is a household name in Malaysia and we’re delighted he won’t just be competing at Races of Malaysia, but truly embracing the double-header concept by taking part in both the 8 Hours of Sepang and the three races that make up WTCR Race of Malaysia,” said François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events, the WTCR and EWC promoter.
Syahrin's two-wheel team is yet to announced, but he will drive a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs for Liqui Moly Team Engstler in the WTCR.
As reported, Sepang is planning on bringing its Petronas Yamaha MotoGP stars Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo to compete at the 8 Hours. Might Syahrin be the team's third rider?
Syahrin will take part in his final MotoGP race for Tech3 KTM at Valencia on November 17. His 2020 plans are still to be confirmed, with a return to Moto2 looking likely.
