Hikari Okubo completes first of three days testing in Jerez
MotoE rookie Hikari Okubo completes the first of three days testing at Jerez in what is the last Official pre-season test ahead of the 2021 MotoE World Cup campaign.
The Japanese rider was seventh at the conclusion of the opening day, while former Moto2 rider Dominique Aegerter was fastest.
The MotoE rookie returns to the Grand Prix paddock for the first time since 2014 where he made a wildcard appearance in Moto3 at his home round of Motegi.
Since then Okubo has been competing in WorldSSP with a best finish of fourth in 2019.
MotoE riders have already had testing opportunities at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, with this the last before their season begins at the Spanish venue on May 2nd.
Speaking after day one, Okubo said: "This last three-day test in Jerez is very important for us in terms of finishing preparing for the start of the 2021 FIM MotoE World Cup season.
"After this first day, the feeling is positive. We have focused our work on finding a good setup for the bike, and on continuing to adapt to the riding style that this machine requires.
"The results were great, and most importantly, we still have two more days in which to continue progressing.
"We will do our best to take some more big steps forward between now and Wednesday."
The on track action for MotoE riders is split into three separate practice sessions with a total of six remaining over the next two days.
