Syahrin got the surprise chance after Jonas Folger withdrew from the competitive Monster Yamaha Tech3 ride following fatigue issues at the end of 2017.
Syahrin scored 46 points in his rookie season for 16th in the world championship and a best result of ninth.
However he struggled after Tech3's switch to KTM machinery for 2019, managing just nine points on the RC16.
The Malaysian then returned to Moto2, with Aspar and then RW Racing, before starting a new era in the WorldSBK paddock.
