Sete wins first 500 GP!
Sete Gibernau capped off an astounding day's racing at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia by taking his maiden 500c MotoGP victory in a thrilling race that saw many of the top riders starting on slick tyres despite the circuit being very damp and slippery.

Poggiali snatches classic 125 win.
In one of the most exiting race seen this, or any other year, Manuel Poggiali went from fourth on entering the final corner to the lead as he edged out Championship rival Toni Elias by a mere 0.022seconds following a race long ten bike scrap for the win at Valencia.

Rossi rules in Estoril - Biaggi crashes again.
Valentino Rossi absorbed race long pressure from Loris Capirossi to take a sensational seventh win of the year at the Portuguese Grand Prix today, with the World Championship leader's title hopes boosted by Max Biaggi's second crash in two races.

The Roman Emperor reigns in Germany.
Max Biaggi claimed a perfect lights-to-flag victory in the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, heading a Marlboro Yamaha one-two with Carlos Checa second and Shinya Nakano taking his first 500cc podium finish in third.

Fantastic first 250 win for Melandri.
Marco Melandri won his first 250 Grand Prix at the Sachsenring after a fantastic late race charge saw him catch and then pass race leader Daijiro Katoh with a brave move at the final corner - and win by just 0.052secs.

Biaggi wins as rain stops play at Assen.
With five laps to go the 500cc Dutch GP was shaping up for yet another thrilling battle between Max Biaggi and Valentino Rossi, but then 'out of the blue' the red flags came out, giving Biaggi his second win of the season with 75% of the race distance completed.

Valentino Rossi completed his clean sweep of the 500cc class in 2001, taking victory after a thrilling duel with early race leader Norick Abe, in today's Spanish Grand Prix.

Ui walks away with 125 win.
Derbi's Youichi Ui took a lights to flag victory today in the 125cc race from Welkom, South Africa, with Manuel Poggiali taking his best ever finish in second behind the Japanese rider.

Rossi claims historic win for Honda.
Valentino Rossi wrote his name into the record books by claiming Honda's 500th win today at Suzuka, in a race that will be remembered for the intense grudge match witnessed between Rossi and archrival Max Biaggi.

Alex Barros came through to win a two part Dutch TT, his first win since 1993. The 75th running of the Dutch TT got underway in dry conditions with but a few damp patches still scattered around the track making things slightly difficult.
Gladiator Capirossi takes Italian GP glory.
The welcome which heralded Loris Capirossi's victory in the Italian 500cc Grand Prix would have been fitting for an emperor, as the Honda Pons rider became the first Italian to win the class at Mugello.
