Red flag

Philipp Oettl has retired with a fairly large engine failure. The red flag is out, and Toprak Razgatlioglu takes victory in the final race of 2024. Nicolo Bulega second, and Michael van der Mark third.

13:27
Lap 16/20

Back up to a 0.5s lead now for Razgatlioglu. Is he going to break Bulega late on?

13:26
Aegerter out

Dominique Aegerter has crashed out at the final corner.

13:25
Lap 15/20

0.2s between the leaders, still in Razgatlioglu's favour; van der Mark still holding on in third place although Iannone is coming back to him again.

Only five to go now.

13:22
Lap 13/20

Bulega clearly with more grip than Razgatlioglu now, just about finding the place to make the pass.

13:20
Lap 12/20

Razgatlioglu continues to lead, but he's still not been able to shake Bulega. Only 0.2s between them now with eight laps to go.

13:18
Bautista crashes

It's a third crash in a race for this weekend for Bautista, as he slides out at turn six.

13:18
Iannone and van der Mark contact

Iannone sends it down the inside of van der Mark into the final corner for third place. He never quite got there, and van der Mark closed the door. Iannone almost got sent over the high-side with the contact, but he gathered it up and rejoined in sixth.

13:16
Lap 9/20

A tenth in the lap times again between the leaders and the gap is up to almost 0.7s now. They're over six seconds clear of the field now.

13:14
Lap 8/20

Still 0.5s between the leaders. On the one hand, Razgatlioglu stayed in the 1:39s that lap, while Bulega was in the 1:40s, on the other hand, Bulega was less than a tenth slower than the leader.

13:12
Lap 7/20

Half-a-second between the leaders now. Nothing too concerning for Bulega but that's as big a deficit as he's faced to Razgatlioglu today.

13:10
Bautista wide at turn six

Bautista makes a pass on Locatelli for seventh at turn six, but he has a gear selection issue and he runs wide. He's going again but down in 11th.

13:09
Lap 5/20

Still 0.3s between the leaders, as Bautista is now coming to the podium battle along with Gerloff - seven riders now in that third-place battle.

13:08
Lap 4/20

Razgatlioglu still leads but he's not pulling away. Van der Mark up to third now, and Iannone is now fourth after Lowes made a fairly clumsy move on Locatelli at the final corner.

13:06

Tarran Mackenzie has crashed out.

13:06
Lap 3/20

Razgatlioglu leads by  almost 0.4s, and Tommy Bridewell has crashed out.

13:05
Razgatlioglu leads

Razgatlioglu leads at the beginning of lap three, making the move a turn two, as van der Mark passes Lowes for fourth.

13:04
Lap 2/20

Bulega leads by a tenth from Razgatlioglu, and there's already a 1.6s gap then back to Locatelli in third.

13:02
Lap 1/20

Bulega leads the opening lap from Razgatlioglu and Locatelli, who's just ahead of Alex lowes and Michael van der Mark.

13:01
Race 2 start

It's lights out in Jerez for the final time in 2024 for WorldSBK, and it's Bulega who makes the holeshot ahead of Razgatlioglu and Locatelli.

12:58
Warm-up lap

The riders are off on their warm-up lap for the final time in 2024.

12:55

Around five minutes to go now until we're underway in Jerez for Race 2.

12:52

Yesterday's podium battle was between Iker Lecuona, Alex Lowes, and Andrea Locatelli. It went the way of the Italian, but whatever the case, today's race will be without Lecuona after he broke his fifth metatarsal in the Superpole Race earlier today.

12:48

Alvaro Bautista will be one to watch in Race 2. He qualified down in 15th yesterday and has been complaining about his feeling with the bike all weekend, but despite two crashes yesterday he displayed pace in clear air that would have been good enough for the podium. A ninth-place finish in the Superpole Race means he'll start from the back of the third row for this one, so could be more in the mix for the podium.
