World Superbike reveals provisional 2022 calendar, Phillip Island finale
World Superbike has released a provisional 13-round calendar for the 2022 season.
Phillip Island is aiming to return for the first time since the Covid pandemic - but as season finale, rather than season-opener - at a to-be-announced date.
Not returning are this year's events at Navarra and Jerez, but the new Most (Czech Republic) and Mandalika (Indonesia) rounds continue.
Mandalika will remain in its November date despite monsoon rains forcing a cancellation of this year's Saturday race and shortening of the second feature race.
The identity of the 13th round is still to be decided. Turkey's Istanbul Park is one of the rumours, following home star Toprak Razgatlioglu's historic title victory.
"A 13th round will take place and we have some options for where this event could be, whilst it will be great to welcome Australia and the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit back to the calendar, this time closing the season. The date is to be confirmed due to logistical challenges that require further analysis," said Gregorio Lavilla, WorldSBK Executive Director.
"I am pleased to welcome back two of 2021’s new circuits: the Autodrom Most and the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit. We look forward to another fantastic season of WorldSBK action.”
The new-look World Supersport class will be present at all rounds, with WorldSSP300 attending all European events except Donington Park.
