Having carved a reputation as something of an unsung hero by proving the closest thing to a rival for the dominant WFR Hondas during his 2011 British Superbike EVO campaign, Barry Burrell would go on to make a confident step into the championship class in 2012.

Staying on board with Buildbase BMW, Burrell's 2012 season took time to get going as he could only manage two points from the opening seven races, but a then career-best tenth place finish at Snetterton would kick-start a better run of form during the middle and latter-end of the year.

Cracking the top ten again at Oulton Park and Donington Park, it all preluded a remarkable performance during the final Brands Hatch event when Burrell turned in a podium-challenging performance during all three races.

The first time the Buildbase BMW had been so close to the front of the field, though Burrell would just miss out on the elusive podium finish, a fourth, fifth and sixth were a headline-grabbing end to a season that had gained in momentum.

As it stands, Burrell is yet to have landed a BSB ride for 2013, but - as your votes have proved here - his absence would be a shame for the series.
