Injured Bridewell vows to 'turn it around'

Bathams Honda's Tommy Bridewell had a round to forget after failing to score any points in in the MCE British Superbike Championship at Thruxton, where he was involved in a huge race two crash.

Bridewell had hoped to make a big impact at his home race but after retiring from the first race with a technical problem he was struck by Karl Harris's wayward machine and wiped out in the second at Club while battling inside the top ten.

He suffered a painful injury when the foot-peg of his Honda punctured his leg, but Bridewell is aiming to bounce back at Oulton Park.

"To be honest Thruxton has never been my favourite place and it was just a massively disappointing weekend for me and the team; we seem to have had a rubbish run of luck," he said.

"We had a good first race at Brands Hatch and then we have had two technical problems and been taken out.

"In the first race I had an engine problem and we had to change it for race two, but it felt different so I was getting used to that and we were moving in a better direction until I got wiped out," added Bridewell.

"I remember the whole thing, I was literally on the back straight, flat out and as soon as I shut the throttle there was about a second and then it felt like getting side-swiped by a car.

"I am feeling a bit sore and a bit bruised, but not bad considering how big the crash was; the foot peg came through my leg, but fortunately it hasn't snapped any tendons, ligaments or fractured anything.

"I am 17 points behind sixth in the standings now and we just need to get our heads down now to turn it around."
