Sheene in British Supersport debut with Quelch Afterdark
Quelch Afterdark Motorsport have signed Freddie Sheene for his British championship debut this season in the Motorpoint Supersport Evo class.
Sheene joins Josh Wainwright and Sandra Stammova in the team, who will compete in the MCE British Superbike Championship, and James White, who will also ride in the Supersport Evo series after contesting the National Superstock 1000 class last season.
Sheene has joined the team following an impressive performance last year when he scored three podium finishes in a Pre-National 600 class race at Donington Park.
Wainwright steps up to BSB having gained experience in the Superstock classes, with the Thamesmead-based youngster progressing from the 600cc series into the 1000cc championship last year and clinching a best result of fourth at the penultimate round of the season at Silverstone.
He is partnered by Stammova, who has also previously competed in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship.
The team will dovetail their British Championship events participation along with the CEV Repsol series.
Team owners, Tim White and Mark Quelch, said in a joint statement: "It is a relief to be able to share this news as we have been working extremely hard through the winter break to get everything in place for the forthcoming season.
"We see this as a really strong line up and look forward to seeing all the riders battling it out on circuit. They will begin their testing programme soon and we all cannot wait for this year to finally get underway.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors and partners for making this all possible."
