Shane Byrne suffers heavy crash in Almeria
Shane Byrne has suffered a nasty high-side crash during the second day of the pre-season testing in Almeria ahead of the upcoming MCE British Superbike championship.
The reigning British Superbike champion was taken to the medical centre at the Spanish track after crashing a turn six on the Almeria circuit. The rider received checks and has been referred to the local hospital for further assessments.
Byrne was declared okay but heavily bruised by his Paul Bird Motorsport team and has gone to hospital as a precautionary check as the circuit doesn't have an X-ray machine.
The four-time BSB champion has been testing his Kawasaki ZX-10R along with team-mate Stuart Easton and PBM road racer Ian Hutchinson.
Byrne ended the day third on the timesheets, as Luke Mossey finished top for the second day in a row. Buildbase BMW's Lee Jackon was able to grab second spot on the timesheet, one tenth of a second ahead of Byrne.
