The final round of the World Stunt Riding Championship is set to be the best ever when the closely-fought series heads to Donington Park as part of the Moto1 festival on October 30-31.

This year's top three riders are gearing up for the classic showdown which will climax on Sunday October 31 at 12.30pm.

Heading the confirmed entries is German Christian Pfeiffer, the reigning world champion who holds a delicate five-point lead in the championship after victory in the last round in the Czech Republic.

Pfeiffer rides a 1000cc Ducati Monster but his exploits on his 280 Gas Gas trials machine earned him a near maximum score in the "entertainment" category at the last round.

He faces stiff opposition in the battle to earn the "World's No 1" tag with nearest rival, Portugese star Umberto Ribiero, fully rehearsed for his performances aboard Honda Fireblade and Honda Hornet machinery.

"The final world round will be very nervous for us all and being part of a high profile event like Moto1 is a fantastic way to finish the World Championship," said Pfeiffer. "I am confident but the final is all about a faultless display on the day - anything can happen!"

Outsider Antonio "AC" Farias heads to Donington Park and Moto1 for his first British appearance for more than five years. Third in the series, Farias is looking to impress on his Suzuki GSX-R1000 and regain the world title he won in 2001.

The British challenge is led by Sonnie Ferguson who holds sixth place in the championship heading into the final round.

The World Stunt Riding Championship qualifying takes place on Saturday October 30 at 12.30pm as 30 hopefuls - from 14 countries - are reduced to 24 for Sunday's finale.

"The World Stunt Riding Championship is a major part of Moto1 and we've already received a lot of interest from fans who have never seen these riders perform before." explained Moto1 Managing Director Robbie Allan.

The inaugural Moto1 spectacular itself involves 24 of Britain's leading motorcycle sports stars doing battle during an action-packed two days of competition over four disciplines; road racing, motocross, supermoto and trials.

Moto1 action will run from 9am to 4.30pm each day. Additional attractions include a World Long Jump record attempt, freestyle motocross demonstrations, youth trials and motocross, a National Supermoto, two days of road races, a Classic Parade, the "world famous" Purple Helmets and an extensive trade exhibition.

"The build up to Moto1 is now in full swing. We're finalising the 24 riders for the Moto1 competition, we've had a big response from the media launch and our trade exhibition areas are close to being fully booked," commented Allan.

"We're working hard to fine tune the schedule to ensure the fans have the opportunity to see all of the attractions, including what promises to be a sensational finish to the 2004 World Stunt Riding Championship."
