Race one red flagged due to Kiyonari crash.

Ryuichi Kiyonari fell in the first race of the third round of the British Superbike championship causing the red flags to be called into action.

The race had already been stopped under a safety car situation after a coming together of Gregorio Lavilla and Karl Harris, both rider were okay despite tumbling at high speed.

On the restart Kiyonari held his lead over team-mate Michael Rutter going round the first corner but lost control of the HM Plant Honda machine going into the second corner, which is a slow speed chicane.

The bike went onto the grass and Kiyonari was forced to jump off his machine, unfortunately the Japanese rider hit the tyre barrier on the side of the track, and sustained a large impact. His exact condition was unknown for some time, but news eventually got out that it was not as bad as initially feared.
