Buckingham wraps up Privateer Cup.
James Buckingham capped a memorable season in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park as the Quay Racing Suzuki rider secured the Privateer Cup with two race meetings still to run.
Buckingham, who has consistently punched above his weight on the privateer machine during 2005, admitted that the Suzuki hadn't been at its best around the Cheshire circuit - but a brace of twelfth places handed him an unassailable 133 point advantage over nearest rival Chris Martin with just 100 points left to fight for.

"It's good to wrap up the Championship," Buckingham told Crash.net. "The bike wasn't handling all that good, but good enough for the Privateer Cup. I can now concentrate on beating the others!"
The two twelfth places also ensured Buckingham picked up more BSB points to add to his tally, and the youngster said his aim for the remaining four races would be to continue to ruffle a few feathers among the championship riders as he seeks to find a better ride for the 2006 season.
"My plan now is to try and qualifying higher up by pushing harder and then push harder in the race," he said. "I want to run with the works guys and prove that with a better bike I could beat them.
"I've had no offers yet [for next season]. I'm trying to sort my own team for next year but we have no major sponsor. I'm happy to speak to any team, or get the cash together for my own team."
