Embassy Racing and Richards move into Superstock.
Embassy Racing, the West Yorkshire based sportscar racing team, has decided to make the move into two wheeled sport by announcing its intention to run former British Superbike rider Glen Richards in this year's National Superstock Championship.
Richards will contest a Yamaha R1 in the Superstock class while the car racing team continue with their plans to compete a Pilbeam MP93 prototype in the LMP2 category of the 2007 Le Mans Series.

The team's two bikes will be prepared side by side with the race car and although bikes and car will have their own distinct technical personnel, sharing space is certain to result in some interesting discussion and exchange of ideas on how to improve things.
Team Principal Jonathan France explained why they are opting for a two wheeled assault, "I have always been interested in bike racing and I thought that a team in the BSB paddock would not only add to the Embassy portfolio, but it would also be an excellent way to showcase our racing credentials," he said.
"We are a professional race operation, and I am keen to show that our philosophy, technical skills and organisation can work across different types of motorsport," continued France, "I wanted a bike, rider and championship package that would deliver the profile, results and exposure that reflects our status, and in the Yamaha, Glen and Superstock I think we have found an excellent starting point. If things go well for us in 2007, we would certainly be looking to step up next year."
Richards will be riding in the World Endurance Series as well committing to the full Superstock season with Embassy Racing. Having lost his BSB ride at the end of last year, he is upbeat about his new opportunity in the British paddock. "Embassy is a new team to the BSB paddock, but from what I have seen so far, they will have no trouble mixing it with the big boys. They are up there technically, have the budget, resources and a skilled and determined team of individuals to get the task done," explained Richards.
He did admit that they have come in late to the game but feels it can still work out, "Although we have given ourselves a huge task in the lateness of our start, I have no doubt we will be ready for race one and if I can perform to my best, I am sure we'll be in at the sharp end come October. Make no mistake, I am up for this challenge and definitely feel that I have something to prove. This team is going places and I want to be a part of it," he concluded.
