The English rider sustained the injury in a fall at Graham Hill Bend midway through FP2 which triggered a red flag stoppage of the session so Linfoot could receive medical attention.
The Honda rider was treated at the medical centre at the circuit before being transport to the Princess Royal University Hospital in London for further scans. The scans revealed the fractured vertebrae and Linfoot will spend a night in hospital before a recovery plan is produced for the rider.
Linfoot’s current recovery timeframe is unknown, with the third round of the 2018 BSB season two weeks away at Oulton Park, before the mid-season break.
Heading into the second round at the Kent circuit Linfoot is third in the BSB riders’ championship after finishing fourth in race one at Donington Park before going one better with third place in race two.
Unfortunately Dan has sustained a small fracture to the base of his neck. Although no immediate threat or concern, he will be kept in overnight to be assessed further.
