Byrne set for surgery after Snetterton crash
Shane Byrne’s Be Wiser Ducati squad has confirmed the six-time Bennetts British Superbike champion will undergo surgery after his fall during the Snetterton test and is expected to make a full recovery.
The defending BSB champion crashed on his third lap of the opening session at the Snetterton test at Turn 3 which saw the session red flagged. Byrne was treated at the track medical centre before being transported by ambulance to hospital.

Byrne remains in hospital and will have surgery on vertebrae and potentially his neck. The PBM-run Be Wiser Ducati squad says Byrne is set to make a full recovery while further updates are expected to follow.
The 41-year-old currently sits third in the BSB riders’ championship with one win and two further rostrums from the opening three rounds of the 2018 campaign.
